Pacifica, the privately-owned real estate firm, plans to transform hundreds of acres into a convention center and hotel destination. In June, the SD Unified Port District and the City of Chula Vista approved the economic plans to move forward. The City and the Port District will pay for 1/3 of the project, while RIDA, a development company, will pay the remainder. The development is estimated to create more than 3,000 jobs.
